One of South Africa’s leading companies in the Media and Entertainment space is on the lookout for

a Head of Analytics.

They are looking for someone who can provide strategic direction and support to product, marketing, finance and ops teams and other areas of the business by deriving customer insight from business information and market research, (quantitative and qualitative), - the internal and external customer views. To role will also be to provide a pivotal link between the team and other key functions, deriving actionable insights to drive decision-making through timely business performance reporting of operational KPI’s.

Job Description

* Deliver information and effective Market Research to Commercial teams and other areas of the business.

o Collect and analyze data on customer behaviours, insights, demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits to identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand.

o Prepare reports (Customer Dashboard’s) of findings.

o Measure and assess brand equity, customer satisfaction and other measures that the company may need research input

* Management of business information to support functional divisions with insights and reports to accomplish the organization’s mission and strategy.

o Provide strategic direction and support to product and marketing teams and other areas of the business by deriving customer insight and trend performance from business information.

o Analyse and manage data, through sourcing, validating, manipulating and understanding. Apply intermediate and advanced analysis on data and provide business with clear insights addressing business concerns.

o Utilising data insights and trend analysis, provide business owners and executives with estimated outcomes.

o Drive information adoption throughout the commercial area encouraging a performance driven culture.

o Drive Retention programmes in order to maximise ROI for all direct marketing activties

o Measure and report on effectiveness of Marketing activities (ATL / BTL)

o Contribute to determination of business rules across distribution channel commercial terms

o Measure and report on quality of customers per distribution channel

o Identify gaps in data analysis to close the loop between known and unknown factors

o Understand data in the business and apply necessary tools to amalgamate data together in order to draw new conclusions

o Find ways to effectively visualize data reports and ad hoc findings to effectively drive business decision making

o Uncover new customer behaviour and trend brakes

o Be able to work with large data sets across functions, companies and departments to build one view of a customer and be able to model customer behaviour

o Support and drive a big data strategy in the business together with the tech data team

o Drive adoption of insights and data in the business across functions outside of the marketing department

* Operational Duties

o Ensure regular reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) of KPI’s to inform root cause of performance to drive decisions and risk mitigation.

o Contribute to determination of the overall Commercial plan / targets and product / segment strategies and annual marketing plan.

o Prepare and develop appropriate reporting tools for commercial analytics and market research to provide clear and informative reporting.

* Perform any other related duties as requested by Management.

* Additionally:

o Prepare and develop appropriate reporting tools to consolidate analytical findings

o Identify key business learning’s and opportunities resulting from analytical findings

o Development of new methods of data reporting and analyses on an ongoing basis

o Contribute to annual budget preparation

o Recruit, and effectively manage direct reports

Qualification:

* University Degree in relevant field

* 4 – 5 years experience in a comparable environment, staff management experience

* Experience in reporting and presentation to executive management

* Very strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills

* Ability to work under pressure.
