Head of Department – Foundation Phase Teacher

Location: Camps Bay, Cape Town

Start Date: Term 2 of 2018

Requirements:
Experience as a Head of Department
5+ years teaching experience
Registered with SACE
Foundation Phase qualification
Have knowledge and experience of CAPS
Have an excellent command of the English language
Able to teach all the subjects (excluding Jewish studies) offered in the Foundation Phase
Comprehensive computer literacy
An inspirational, organised and energetic teacher
Well-developed inter-personal and organisational skills
Willingness to liaise as a team player
Excellent classroom management skills
Have excellent management skills to plan and implement the curriculum, manage curriculum changes and innovative ideas that are accordance with the strategic vision and policies of the school

Duties:
Teaching all learning areas in the Foundation Phase
Working from 7h45 to 16h00, Monday to Friday
Attending a staff meeting once a week from 15h00 to 16h30
Running an extra mural one afternoon a week from 15h00 to 16h00
Added to the ‘Stop and Drop’ roster
Attended Parent/Teacher Meetings as required
Ensure that staff have the necessary direction, resources and support to carry out their responsibilities and implementation of any aspect of teaching and learning
Demonstrate effective collaborative and communication skills to nurture an ethos of inclusive participation of all staff
Moderate, monitor and maintain all processes in the phase
Demonstrate leadership through his/her vision for the academic and curriculum development of the phase
Inspire a culture of excellence in the department and in the whole school
