Role Description

The Head of Human Resources will be accountable for the strategic HR direction of the company and be a member of the executive management team. The role requires someone who understands business processes and is able to align key business strategies and drivers within the companies. Furthermore, someone who can challenge the status-quo, adept / creative at finding ways to incorporate hr solutions to analyse business opportunities / decisions. Direct reporting will be to the CEO with a matrix organisational and reporting structure.

Requirements for the role:

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10 years of HR generalist experience. Must have been in a senior or group HR position for at least 3 years in a multinational mining or financial industry
• Be fully proficient in the full Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Energetic, flexible and have the ability to work under pressure and take initiative
• Demonstrate well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Have sound diplomacy, discretion and interpersonal skills and is able to maintain confidential information
• The ability to work effectively in a team and in building collaborative relationships with stakeholders

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Participate in developing appropriate operating strategies, policies and principles
• Organisation structure design, workforce planning, recruitment, staffing and on-boarding
• Facilitate succession planning, skills development and retention programmes and reporting
• Performance management, remuneration and benefits management
• Labour / Union engagement, negotiations and communication
• Provide sound advice, counselling and formulate solutions to HR issues that arise within the company
• Develop employment agreements, policies, procedures and ensure governance and legal compliance
• Responsible for the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Present and facilitate workshops and meetings
