The client requires the services of a Head: IT Infrastructure in our Technology Department. The successful candidate will be expected to enable the business to achieve its strategic objectives by implementing appropriate technology solutions and management practices in Technology Infrastructure Management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Influence and Execute on the IT Infrastructure Strategy
• Contribute to the development and Influence of the Group IT Infrastructure
• Management business strategy
• Develop the IT Infrastructure Strategy in alignment and support of the client’s IT strategy
• Develop business plans to implement the client IT Infrastructure Strategy
• Monitor the implementation plans to ensure achievement of the client IT Infrastructure

Develop and Implement IT Infrastructure Architecture
• Manage the IT Infrastructure landscape through planning the systems, applications portfolio, infrastructure and the business as a whole over the long term (5-10 years)
• Analyse the business environment in terms of legislation, operating models, integration and interfacing points and determine the systems needed to support and provide the suitable systems into the future
• Ensure that systems are uniform and integrated across the company
• Formulate an IT Infrastructure investment plan including costs
• Make decisions in respect of the infrastructure needed, and appropriately motivate for and prioritise implementation projects
• Assess projects to ensure alignment to the approved architecture
• Approve all IT Infrastructure projects for implementation

Manage the Portfolio
• Set up an organisation structures with resources to ensure ability to oversee and report on project delivery
• Establish a process to take projects on board from inception to closure
• Establish the governance processes for projects i.e. committees, meetings, templates etc.
• Manage the benefits realisation of the projects being implemented
• Decide on the methodology and tools to be used in managing and reporting on the project

Manage Financial Aspects of IT
• Develop budgets annually for presentation to EXCO for approval including Opex and Capex.
• Take accountability for spend against the budget in line with corporate standards
• Report to EXCO on spend against budget

Manage Relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Manage Governance /Structures, System Policies, Decisions and Risk Investment Manage staff

Experience, qualifications and competency requirements
• 4 Year Tertiary Qualification preferably in Business/IT
• Post Graduate Qualification
• 10 Years’ Experience at Managerial Level
• Planning and organising skills
• Strategic Decision Making
• Judgment ability
• Willing to work extended hours
• Accountability
• Excellent verbal and written communication
