Head of Marketing - Cape Town

Our client, based in Cape Town, is a rapidly scaling startup providing an online platform for ordering and paying for home cleaning services. Currently, they’re looking for an experienced and talented Head of Marketing to work on a full-time basis within their growing marketing team. Well-funded and the first in South Africa (and Africa!), they utilise technology to modernise the home cleaning industry and provide their customers with a convenient, easy and trusted service to get their homes cleaned.

Role: The Head of Marketing role is primarily responsible for execution of Client growth strategy via the acquisition of new customers through online and offline channels. The Head of Marketing should be experienced, capable, intelligent, data-riven, confident, forward-looking, and able to work with different personalities across the Client’s team. She/he will ultimately be responsible for building a full-spectrum marketing team in-house.

Entry requirements:

• 8+ years’ experience working in marketing, including experience heading up a digital marketing department or managing teams of 5 or more marketing professionals
• Great understanding of online and offline advertising, cross-channel experience
• Experience on working on cross-team projects
• Proven skills in strategic, verbal and visual communication
• Understanding of data and analytics with the ability to translate data to results
• Strong leadership skills
• Highly analytical; Works well in a team environment and enjoys leading others and working collaboratively
• Excellent Communicator: Understands the consumer market well, including local markets. Very organised and works methodically
• Character: Very good attention to detail and a fast learner – must grasp business operating model and be able to identify opportunities quickly

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Drive demand side of the platform and all marketing activities, focussed on the acquisition of new customers
2. Development and implementation of a multi-channel strategy for customer acquisition, retention, reactivation, loyalty and engagement
3. Development and preparation of reporting on the performance of acquisition, retention, referrals, customer insights, product usage, campaigns and demand analysis
4. Business Development: Identify and lead new strategic and tactical partnerships, which can benefit Client’s customers, as well as increase acquisition
5. Brand Strategy and Creative Direction: Provide the marketing and broader teams with creative direction for the brand strategy, development and concept for marketing campaigns
6. Develop strategies for each of the following marketing channels, including weekly updates, experiments and growth : SEM, Facebook CPC, Affiliates, Email, Notification, Brand, Direct, PR, CR, SEO, Social, UX enhancements
7. Management of the marketing calendar and campaign planning
8. Team management: Hiring, performance management, training and documenting the operations of the marketing team and processes.
9. Documentation of all best practices and Client’s know-how around customer acquisition, retention, reactivation, loyalty and engagement
10.New Business: Work on projects which can help to identify new revenue streams for the business (advertising sales; office cleaning, frequent/recurring bookings)
11.Collaboration and support for other department heads on key company projects (for example: pricing updates; cleaner acquisition strategies; reporting)
