An exciting opportunity exists for a Head of Operations. My client has a national footprint as well as a branch in Botswana. The role will be based at the Head Office in the Johannesburg and will report directly to the M.D.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for managing national as well as cross border operations at a tactical and strategic level. Delivering on performance objectives that support the long term strategy of the business.

Job Objectives:

· Lead and report on Business Operations, at Operating Board and Group level.

· Provide feedback on the branch performance as per KPI requirements.

· Responsible for implementing best practice in terms of systems, procedures and efficiency.

· Formulating and maintaining control over annual plans, budgets and forecasts.

· Responsible for ensuring a high quality standard of reporting.

· Responsible for working with the organisation to identify operational opportunities and pitfalls and to project manage operational improvements or changes.

· Responsible for working with Responsible Pharmacists and the Branch Managers in order to ensure operational compliance with legislative requirements.

· Responsible for mentoring and developing the skills and calibre of the operations staff nationally.

· Responsible for managing national contracts, including labour outsourcing and transportation.

· Responsible for assisting the driving of sales targets in the branches.

· Responsible for logistics, viability and effectiveness of the owner driver scheme.

· Responsible to project manage warehouse design and layout, construction projects in conjunction with engineering consultants enabling future capacity requirements.

· Responsible for the management and development of staff by ensuring the attraction and retention of key employees. Measuring and managing staff performance, developing and encouraging teamwork and learning, fostering an environment of co-operation, communication and customer service

· Applying HR Policies and Procedures, providing support, training and development opportunities to staff, overseeing the Employment Equity Committee.

· Ensure Health and safety requirements are met and adhered too.

· Ensure Shrinkage is kept in line with targets set.

· Development of Talent and succession within the Operations function.

· Ability to effectively work with and manage Distribution Clients and wholesale customer’s requirements.

Experience and Education:

· Post-graduate qualification with 5 years’ experience in senior management

· In-depth knowledge of logistics management

- Extensive experience in dealing with a large warehouse environment
