Summary of Role:
The Head of Production is responsible for the strategy, implementation and effective management of all content development by the Company's Production and Education department. Content development includes course development (video production, script writing, online back-end management of the company's website, motion graphics and design) and translation.
This role is responsible for the entire Company's Production and Education department’s
output and employees, alongside the Head of Education. The Head of Education is responsible for content consistency, training and communication, whereas the Head of Production is responsible for the operations of the department and the management of all the technical tools the production team uses to operate efficiently.
This is an Executive Committee level position reporting directly to the Director of Production.

Role and Responsibilities:
The Head of Production is ultimately responsible in the consistent delivery of quality productions for the company and the effective management of the team that includes Project Managers, Editors, Videographers, Motion Graphics Artists, Designers and Writers.

Responsibilities of the Head of Production will include:
Content Creation:
• Ensure that a consistent quality level is delivered by the team.
• Develop and maintain procedures and workflows for effective and efficient scriptwriting,
videography, motion graphics and editing.
• Constantly research and develop innovations within content development to ensure that the company's courses stay relevant, engaging, entertaining and best-in-class.
• Develop and maintain procedures for talent management, regarding actors and voice-over artists alongside the Talent Manager.
• Ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on deadline.
Translations:
• Ensure that translations are delivered within budget and on deadline.
• Communicate and negotiate with our translations provider.
• Manage and maintain an effective and efficient workflow for the translation of video, text, online (XML) and audio content. This translation could include up to 20 languages.
Media Management:
• Ensure the Media Asset Management system is being updated and used effectively.
• Ensure that all media created by the company is available to the team for easy access and
use.
• Manage the archiving and data risk management of all content alongside the Production
Engineer.
Staff Development:
• Manage a large creative team, consisting mostly of millennials.
• Maintain a high level of respect from the team.
• Set an example as a mature, creative, innovative professional for the team.
• Reinforce a culture of self empowerment and self-development with the team.
• Conduct performance reviews, probation reviews, and succession and development planning
with team members alongside the People Development team.
• Develop and maintain key performance indicators for an outcomes based earning programme in the department.
• Develop and maintain a research and development strategy for the team.
• Facilitate internal training and improvement within the team.
Project Budgets:
• Overseeing all budgets for course production, translations and design projects within the comapny alongside Project Managers.
Department Budget:
• Budget holder for Production and Education department.
• Effective management of the yearly staff, capex and revenue budget for Production and
Education.
• Input in the creation of the follow years’ department budgets.
In addition:
• Day-to-day management and development of the Assistant Production and Education Manager.
• Active participation on the Exco team and daily leadership of the business.
Skills and Attributes:
• 7+ years experience in production management is advisable.
• Proven track record of success in senior production roles.
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of production workflows.
• Thorough understanding of scriptwriting, videography, motion graphics and editing.
• Experience in creating and managing project management systems.
• Experience in the implementation and management of a production server and Media Asset
Management system.
• Strong ability to work on various computer systems.
• Thorough understanding of online content management systems (e.g. Amazon AWS S3, Vimeo, BitMovin).
• Thorough knowledge of camera terms, brands and use (should be able compare cameras
effectively and assess their use and value within production).
• Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite applications.
• Interest in the tech business space and up to date on recent tech developments.
• Confident, driven and a dynamic leader.
• Strong leadership skills.
