Minimum Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management. Completed industry related courses including SAMTRAC, and HAZHEM is essential.
(National Diploma in Safety Management Safety, Health and Environmental Management Training Course (SHEMTRAC))
Excellent business communication skills
Above average computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office.

Manage and support the safety function across different departments/Divisions
Develop, implement, monitor and improve the safety system, procedures and standards to drive all aspects of safety performance and compliance.
Manage the internal and external safety training program.
Coordinate and participate in annual external audits.
Plan and conduct internal audits.
Investigate all reported incidents.
Develop, implement and monitor emergency procedures.
Implement a proactive safety program to drive incident reduction.
Conduct risk assessments and review the effectiveness of safety measures.
Monitor safe working conditions and behaviour.
Communicate legislative requirements to management and staff.
Chair health and safety meetings.
Keep abreast with the latest developments and trends in Occupational Health and Safety.
Do ad hoc site safety inspections.
Investigate all reported accidents / incidents relating to health in conjunction with the Health Practitioner
Identify and eliminate or reduce risk of health exposure to employees.
Adhere to all related local and national environmental legislation.
Manage the waste disposal program.
Compile monthly SHE reports for management with regards to statistics, trend analysis and areas of risk that needs corrective action.
Attend management meetings to report on SHE progress.
Develop, implement and control all SHE documentation.
Provide expert SHE advise where needed.
Conduct SHE awareness sessions in conjunction with the Health Practitioner to promote a safety, health and environmental culture throughout the company.
