PURPOSE

To manage the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies and processes to the business in support of the achievement of the organisation’s business goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Development and maintenance of an employee-orientated company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention, development and high performance.
• Provide human resources specialist advice and support on all HR, payroll, and training related matters.
• Promote sound and consistent employee relations practices, and provide an all-encompassing, employee relations advisory service.
• Build organisational effectiveness within the relevant departments to maximise capabilities in terms of structures, capability, efficiency and performance.
• Provide the framework for developing sustainable talent relevant to the business in ensuring that every employee is appropriately developed to support meaningful succession and capability planning to improve business performance.
• Develop practices and processes appropriate for the business that enables effective people planning, so that current and future resourcing requirements are met, in terms of timing, demographics and skills requirements.
• Influencing the business resourcing needs and capability to ensure people resources are in place to deliver business results.
• Providing expert advice on relevant practices, systems and tools to the business to ensure sound employee relations.
• Ensure optimal business decisions are reached.
• Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates within the department.
• Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
• Enable line to effectively execute good people management practices and processes.
• Monthly reporting to CEO on statistical and other Human Resources information

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree with 3 - 5 years related experience
• or, HR and Training Diploma with 10 years related experience

• Strong Labour Relations management skills
• Good communication skills at all levels
• Ability to take decisions
• Strong organisation skills
• Technical HR skills covering talent management, performance management, organisational effectiveness, industrial relations, payroll and compensation management
• Management and leadership skills
• Strong business acumen
• Excellent consultative skills including employee management
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Proactive and result orientated
• Attention to detail, ability to think strategically
• Financial and quantitative skills would be advantageous
• Knowledge of software packages: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Knowledge of Human Resources policies, practices and procedures
• Knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA and tax regulations
• Sound knowledge and experience of PAYE, statutory compliance and employee benefits
• Knowledge of Human resources and payroll systems (Pastel)
• Knowledge of Human resources principles of best practice
