BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE:
To lead and direct the human resources team to provide an effective HR support service to the organisation in the implementation of relevant HR initiatives that address the value of human performance in the context of the business functions to harness optimal workforce potential in a cost-effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Relevant Human Sciences degree

Experience:
At least 5 years experience in a related role

Knowledge:

1. Provide efficient HR support service
2. Effectively manage the HR support staff
3. Ensure financial discipline

MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THIS ROLE:
1. Provide efficient HR support service
• Provide general support to all areas of HR
• Ensure the effective implementation of HR initiatives e.g. performance management, career development, succession planning, employment
equity etc.
• Provide appropriate information and support to senior management about HR issues
• Be a key member of the interview panel for executive and senior management appointments
• Provide accurate and current HR data monthly to facilitate key HR decision-making
• Industrial relations – co-ordinate disciplinary hearings on appeal as required, represent company at CCMA where necessary
• Ensure organisational compliance to the performance management cycle
• Ensure full compliance with legal requirements for payroll administration and liaise with Finance Manager as necessary.
• Ensure effective training and development services to ensure optimal functioning across the organisation
• Monitor, evaluate and nurture key relationships to maintain good industrial relations with partners such as unions, sectoral groups and other
stakeholders
• Ensure legal compliance and effective facilitation of the organisational pension fund and serve as fund chairman on the organisation’s behalf
• Facilitate and implement HR Projects
• Define HR projects in line with HR Director priority
• Identify cost-effective opportunities for reward and recognition programmes
• Implement approved awards initiatives
• Effectively manage company’s Employee Assistance Programme
• Implement HR initiatives through liaison with key stakeholders
• Facilitate job evaluations
• Chair job profiling and job evaluation committees as required
• Monitor in-service trainees
• Ensure successful in-service training programmes
• Review progress of training and review trainer evaluations
• Escalate issues as appropriate

2. Effective People Management of HR Support staff
• Maintain Discipline
? Identify deviant behaviour timeously and correct where necessary/possible

? Ensure all positions have current job descriptions
