A medium-sized brokerage has a vacancy for a Human Resource Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for various human resource functions (excluding payroll), which include but is not limited to recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance monitoring, IR, employee counselling and general HR administration and reporting. The role also require managing of a HR Administrator.

A summary of the basic duties:

• All aspects of monitoring entry of employment; advertising, sifting through CV’s, compiling short listings, interviewing, appointments, induction programme
• All aspects of monitoring of exits of employment, including exit interviews
• Drafting of Employment contracts, job specs and KPA’s for new employees, including remuneration; thorough understanding of afore said
• Drafting of Policies and Procedures and/or amendments, implementation and enforcement of same
• Monitoring daily clocking, absenteeism, late comings, special hours taken.
• Building strong employer-employee relationships
• Taking control of Disciplinary practice/procedures if and when required and keeping of proper records thereof
• Implementation and monitoring of Performance Improvement Plans as and when required
• Monitoring of Performance management process
• Inhouse and external training monitoring and execution as per plan
• Ensure proper record-keeping of all training
• Inseta funding processes
• Employment equity Plan – submission, execution, review
• Annual WSP – completion, submission to SDF
• Guidance on all legislative aspects of Employment
• Continuous keep and updating of employee files and contracts
• Dealing with all staff queries and escalate to GM where applicable
• Proper record keeping of all HR related functions
• Any other HR related actions not mentioned above

Please note that this role specifically EXCLUDES any payroll-related duties.

This position reports directly to the company’s General Manager.

Minimum requirements:

• MUST BE FLUENT IN ENGLISH AND AFRIKAANS
• Grade 12
• Relevant HR-qualification will be advantageous
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Thorough understanding of employment legislation
