HTML Developer
Location: Gardens, Cape Town

Purpose of the Role:
We use Drupal to power our content-heavy online publication, to manage our online event registrations and curation system and to throw out JSON and RSS data to be used in web apps. Part of the role includes web and app content management and ad hoc web design work.
Skills I would prioritise are: html5, CSS3, Javascript, web design and user experience
AngularJS and JSON would be a bonus
 
Requirements:

• CMS experience with a strong desire to learn Drupal
• A tertiary qualification in web design or equivalent work experience
• HTML5

• Experience working on a content-heavy website
• Experience with wireframing and web design in an HTML environment
• Experience in responsive design and cross-browser and device testing
• Experience using project management systems such as Basecamp/Redmine/Jira

 
Duties:

• Managing and implementing Drupal development and design on an existing website (built on Drupal 7) under the guidance of the lead developer
• Maintaining and managing Drupal modules
• Bug fixing: diagnosing and troubleshooting website, server and application-related issues and maintaining performance thereof
• Reading and writing technical specifications and appropriate documentation
• Analysing product requirements, designing features, implementing and testing software components
• Working with the product manager to create development and maintenance plans and timelines, and adhering to these with high-quality deliverables
• Maintaining 3^rd party integrations and setting up new services where required, for example ticketing sales, payment systems, Google DFP, Google Analytics, Mailchimp and social media plug-ins
• Maintaining and managing an online registration system, with multiple user roles, built on Drupal
• Adhering to coding standards and ensuring conformity of work to software quality standards
• Striving to understand and improve the UX of all development work
• Research and development: constantly updating technical knowledge and skills, investigating new technologies, staying up-to-date with web design and development best practice and updating the digital products to adhere to these standards
