ICT Enterprise Application Manager

Applications are invited for the above mentioned position in the Information & Communications Technology Department based in Stellenbosch. This position will report to the Group ICT Manager.

Purpose of the position:
The Enterprise Application Manager is responsible for the overall direction and management of the global ICT application architecture encompassing all aspects of application management such as design, development, deployment, maintenance, support and enhancement. The field of responsibility covers all transactional applications, information, planning, performance management as well as unstructured enterprise information content.
The incumbent must provide thought leadership and must establish the company’s vision for an application architecture that takes into account future business demand, technology trends and developments.

Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain a global strategy and roadmap for application and information delivery taking into account future business demand, trends and regulations;
  • Prioritise and plan demand with ICT Projects Office and Business Relationship teams and advise on application options and trends;
  • Prioritise, plan and schedule application upgrades and maintenance in collaboration with business functions, other ICT service areas and 3rd party service providers;
  • Actively focus on Application Innovation to step change business processes;
  • Incorporate and manage the adopted governance framework for application management into all guidelines, standards, policies and procedures;
  • Manage application performance and the availability of critical components initiating corrective action where required;
  • Manage portfolio of 3rd party applications and associated service agreements;
  • Participate in project prioritization forums;
  • Support a business focused culture within ICT.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification;
  • An analytical thinker with at least 8 years of experience in a relevant management field;
  • A solid knowledge and understanding of basic ICT principles;
  • Good knowledge of and exposure to relevant ERP, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Content Management software;
  • Good knowledge of and exposure to the SAP software suite will be highly advantageous;
  • Exposure to and understanding of ICT governance methodologies such as COBIT or ITIL;
  • Proven people management, leadership and facilitation skills;
  • Sound project management abilities;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong administrative ability with high attention to detail;
  • Ability to work under pressure.
