Inbound Logistics Controller is needed for a food manufacturing company based in Johannesburg North. Purpose of the job is to provide a vehicle scheduling visibility for the internal and external customers on the Factory Platform, while managing imports of raw materials and packs and finished goods. Ensuring daily and weekly schedules are drawn up, communicated and commitment to plan measured to ensure an exceptional customer service experience for our local and international customers. Proactively manage and anticipate constraints to meet and exceed customer expectations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Principal accountability for transport spend, including own trucks
• Review any issues found and report to Warehouse Manager
• Complete necessary daily load schedule, adherence to schedule & KPI reports
• Ensure all loads planned:- Imports/Exports and local replenishments are captured and maintained on own Factory Platform Schedule
• Manage TATs in line with the standard
• To ensure all loads received and dispatched are adequately checked and to ensure product quality, quality of load and documentation in line with expectation
• Ensure Factory Platform yard maintained in line with Q&FS standards and HS&E
• Maintain a high standard of health and safety within the warehouse
• Working closely with Finance, logistics service providers, monitor customer service on loads dispatched locally and to Market DCs (track damages and product quality issues)
NATURE AND SCOPE
Job Content:
• Ensure PPE worn in compliance with the legal and RC requirements by all associates and visitors entering the warehouse
• Stop any equipment / operative works / external company works if safety / environment protective / fire protection rules are broken
• Apply MARS standards and all related working procedures
• Check confirmation of orders from Factory Platform and communicate any necessary changes (replenishments, Distributor orders and customer orders)
• Communicate truck schedule to all relevant parties – highlight and react appropriately to constraints
• Keep a schedule of all loads (update status of orders, update ETAs and ensure tracking to schedule and any deviations therein)
• Monitor own fleet and manage costs and attach all documentation in compliance to governance
• Ensure POD documentation packs have all required documentation
• Liaise with Forwarding agents to track incoming containers and provide status updates to Supply Teams
• Track truck and container TATs and provide root cause analysis on deviations
• Closed all finalise POs on NAVISION and handover to Finance
• Ensure debriefing performed for all loads from Factory Platform
• Develop vehicle cost tracker and incorporate into logistics cost tracker
• Collaborate with Market DCs to improve truck utilisation and optimise logistics
• Perform housekeeping and other statutory checks to ensure compliance with Safety and 5S requirements
• Any tasks as delegated by Manager and the Business from time to time
Background Experience & Qualifications
• Diploma or University qualification – Logistics preferred
• Relevant warehousing, freight forwarding and transport scheduling experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehousing, logistics and fleet management
• Advanced MS Office Computer literate (Word, Excel & Powerpoint)
• ERP and WMS experience
