A vacancy for an Indirect Buyer has arisen at a leading manufacturing company in Port Elizabeth. This is a Senior Staff position and reports to the Purchasing Manager. The suitable qualified individual has to procure all consumables and engineering spares in line with plant requirements. EQUITY position earning R17 500 - R18 800 with R6615 car allowance and additional benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS;

1. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Be in possession of National Diploma in Logistics/Purchasing.
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience within a purchasing field.
• Experience in shipping of parts (locally and internationally).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
• Ability to source new suppliers and products. 

2. APTITUDE/BEHAVIOUR REQUIRED 

• Possess good analytic ability with high attention to detail.
• Have the ability to manage multiple activities and work well under pressure.
• Possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels in the organization.
• Be deadline driven and data rational.
• Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

3. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED 

• Good costing and estimating acumen.
• SAP advantageous.
• Sourcing of new suppliers and products.
• Proficiency in MS Office at intermediate level.
• Good negotiating skills.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Purchasing of all consumables and engineering spares.
• Expediting of orders timeously.
• Measuring of supplier performance.
• Investigating and initiating cost savings based on current and new suppliers.
• Price negotiating.
• Resolving of ad hoc payment queries.
• Maintaining and updating of master data system.
• Monitoring and reporting on cost associated with freight and courier shipments.
• Ad hoc reporting as per departmental needs.
