Industrial / Process Engineer - Continuous Improvement (12 Month Contract) - Johannesburg

We are urgently recruiting for a young and energetic Industrial Engineer for an International Company based in Johannesburg East to be:
• Responsible for controlling of all Continuous Improvement and Strategic Programme matters within the parameters of the client’s locations and scope.
• Through customer engagement, understand the business needs, issues, efficiency savings targets and potential for key customers in the Automotive sector (Lead Logistics Provider).
• Lead, deliver and coach cost down initiatives, developing CI projects within the current operation.
• Develop a number of logistics projects, each with validated business cases that lead to specific Company operations or savings programmes.
• Support the Company’s Quality, Cost Reduction and Environmental agenda.
• Add value to the business by alignment to and by direct involvement in strategic initiatives such as FCCS, OMM, Path to Quality, key customer account SLA agreement and KPI achievement.

You will meet the following minimum requirements:
• S.A. ID
• Matric
• In possession of a post graduate qualification in Industrial Engineering (BTech or BSc is a must)
• Experienced in ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2000
• Experienced in Six Sigma
• Project management
• 5 years logistics experience gained at a Senior level within a manufacturing or logistics operations environment
• Sound communication and Interpersonal skills
• Proficient in MS Office

Your Key Accountabilities will include:
• Responsible for identification and delivery of Continuous Improvement initiatives & strategy
• Demonstrate monetary value to client
• Consistently achieve established KPI’s for productivity, accuracy and housekeeping
• To work within any operating areas as determined by the management and needs of the business
• Health and Safety
• Resource modelling and Warehouse layout design
• Implement and sustain visual aids throughout warehouse
• By means of continuous improvement, ensure that procedures are written and that changes are controlled, documented and implemented.
• Define & develop quantitative and qualitative logistics requirements
• Design problem specific solutions with optimal profit and expected quality
• Develop cost efficient processes
• Monitor the general flow of operations
• Monthly HR & IR reporting to National HR Manager
• Establish programs of work measurement in order to guarantee fulfilment of targets and deadlines
• Determine how best to use the work force to achieve maximum productivity
• Engage with suppliers to determine solutions and costs for new Projects
• Project Management
• Lead various projects agreed with customer within agreed timescales and budget
• Support the achievement of Key Performance Indicators to meet & exceed contractual terms and Company expectations
• Supply Chain Solutions design and In Plant Process improvement methodology
• Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for team members
• Management of onsite engineers
• Allocation of projects, following up of tasks and assisting engineers if required
• To engage with site management and key customer personnel to promote CI, Partnerships, cross-functional working etc.
• To provide advice and guidance to Senior Management Team
• Any other reasonable duties as required and in line with individual capabilities
• Management of policies, procedures, work instructions and all other Quality records and aligning them to the global standards as well as ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2000 and OSHAS 18001:2000
• Through a principled, professional approach, purposefully manage the training and implementation of operational procedures, so that managers and process coaches are suitably equipped to maximize the business unit's knowledge capacity
• Management and maintenance of all documents within the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Ensure that all operational processes are implemented within their relevant environments. Control documents for all processes implemented must be kept on file as quality records. Support and guidance must be provided to line management regarding operation process.
• Process and SHEQ Compliance Audits will be conducted annually.
• Time studies of operators doing tasks to ensure they can cope with the workload presented to them by the customer in terms of part supply
• Man assignments stipulating who should be doing what tasks and how much of a workday it will take them to do these tasks
• Process flow diagrams – depicting the processes being done by Company staff
• Paint calculations and shut down planning: planning consumables and manning required for cleaning and painting the Company areas during shut down according to the Company Safety standards for painting.
• Off-site warehouse planning. The Engineering team is responsible to plan manning and layouts for part placement in the case of offsite warehouses.
• All change projects involving Material Handling changes, working closely with the engineers to change facilities, manning and routings to accommodate changes to the productions line or facilities (ongoing, as. this facility is constantly changing), automotive parts are constantly changing) new requirements and changes to current processes.
• Interaction with trade union and resolving of any issues related to HR
