Leading IT Managed Solutions Group based in Johannesburg are seeking an Infrastructure Business Unit Manager to grow and optimise the Infrastructure Service and Solutions offering, and to build strong and scalable inter-personal client relationships, ensuring customer value add through effectively and efficiently managing the Cabling and Modular Data Center.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Research market trends relating to Infrastructure Services and identify new/future needs and innovative infrastructure
solutions
- Develop an operational framework of practices, services and processes to deliver on those
- Participate in the bid or opportunity management process ensuring that The Company deliver the best and most
innovative solutions possible
- Manage the acquisition of new vendor products where appropriate and necessary or the release of OEM’/vendors where required
- Develop/ expand current offering
- Conduct ongoing analysis of customer needs and requirements, and align service delivery against those; and
- Develop service delivery infrastructure to support business growth.
- Ensure that appropriate contract and service management structures, governance practices (i.e. SLA’s) and processes are in place to enable effective and efficient delivery;
- Plan for, and deliver effective customer solutions and services based on customer needs and requirements;
- Create, balance, manage and control resources (finance, people, infrastructure, equipment and service partners) to deliver
on customer requirements,
- Manage and monitor infrastructure service delivery to ensure a professional and timely service, 100% aligned to contract /
service level agreements and client needs
- Provide accurate and effective feedback to clients regarding delivery and / or technical issues and solution enablement
- Manage risks and backlog within the required matrix
- Conduct monthly client visits and reviews with senior business unit managers to ensure continuous improvement of client
services, and to implement the new and improved client service initiatives.
- Contribute toward the overall revenue targets of through active sale of service / solution / product portfolio and ensuring that it is aligned with current and future client needs, expectations and requirements.
- Deliver on Infrastructure sales budget
- Accurately budget for CAPEX and OPEX expenditures in line with the growth and operational plans
- Manage and control expenditure against budget (OPEX and CAPEX)
- Manage distribution expenses to be within budget
- Reduce cost drivers ensuring that they are within budget or at agreed target levels
- Create, balance, manage and control company assets (materials, equipment, infrastructure etc.)to deliver on customer
requirements
- Conduct timeous asset planning to ensure that the required cabling and Data Center related stock, equipment and logistical
infrastructure is available when required
- Manage and monitor asset utilisation, ensure that all assets are accounted for, and report on the overall Asset status and
value.
- Build and maintain strong and scalable inter-personal client relationships in collaboration with Account and Service
Managers;
- Provide accurate and consistent feedback to customers regarding issues raised
- Manage client escalations, analyse and implement mitigating actions to prevent recurrence
- Build and grow relationships with vendors, service providers, and also competitors in the market
- Identify and select new vendors / service providers / service partners to enhance our service offering
- Ensure that relevant partners and service providers are effective and comply with certifications and Product/Work Standards.
- Ensure that employees have clear and understood work/role descriptions, targets and goals to perform their functions, and
that client needs and requirements are integrated into all work related practices;
- Ensure that employees have the right resources, skills, tools, equipment, and information to successfully execute on their
responsibilities;
- Effectively manage employee performance and create opportunities for them to gain the competence for the work required and
to grow.
- Proactively align future talent needs through effective succession planning and capacity building initiatives

- Matric
- Relevant Management Qualification (MAP/NMP)
- Min 5 Yrs Senior Management as well as Senior BU Management exp.
-Relevant experience in planning, management and solutions offering within the IT infrastructure and IT Services space
- Sound knowledge of business principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of IT Services
- Knowledge of strategic and operational planning
- Sound knowledge and experience of ITIL principles and ISO 9000 standards
- South African Standards SANS 10142-1
- Knowledge of Data Centre and Facilities requirements in terms of Cooling, Power, Space, Control Strategies
- Knowledge of Data Centre Design, Build, Refurbishment, Certification
