To perform and end to end fund accounting role as part of the Segregated Fund Accounting team. This role has a strong client reporting focus with a specific focus on segregated mandates

Relevant qualification and experience:
• Relevant Tertiary Qualification(s) preferred (but not essential)
• Relevant experience of at least 2 years in a similar Fund Accounting role is essential along with a solid understanding of asset management operations.
• Relevant exposure to Investment reporting systems. Solid Excel skills - ability to perform a vlookup and /or apply pivot tables

Duties and responsibilities:
• Assisting with the client take-on process.
• Assisting with portfolio transitions and portfolio restructures.
• Implementing and maintaining process controls
• Client reporting
o Responsible for running, checking and sending of client reports daily and monthly
o Dealing with audit requests and queries
o Handling client queries efficiently to ensure resolution of both internal and external client queries
o Assist in the preparation and distribution of specific reporting requirements to clients
o Attending to monthly, quarterly, ad hoc client and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Cash flow management and Electronic banking
o Ensure sufficient cash is available in the physical bank account before transfer
o Arrange for intraday facility with banks where necessary
o Capturing to online banking platforms or instructing via fax timeously
o Perform the necessary checks to ensure transfers are debited and credited timeously and accurately after having released online payments
• Reconcile cash and asset holdings
o Ensure differences are identified and resolved timeously.
Daily and monthly bank account reconciliations.
o Daily and monthly unit-holding reconciliations
o Ensure there is no impact to NAV as a result of differences
o Alert managers to material differences that may impact the funds trading ability or fund valuation
• Co-ordination and clear communication with client, investment team and programmers where relevant
o You will be required to be the query point for fund managers regarding any fund accounting or administration issues
o ensure that the fund manager is informed of any reconciliation items and outstanding issues
o follow up on unmatched or unsettled trades to ensure quick resolution
o Ensure resolution of internal and external queries
• Fund Accounting
o Pricing of funds and valuation of financial instruments e.g. equities, bonds, and derivatives.
o A solid understanding of asset pricing and instrument valuation principles
o Understand the different corporate action events and its impact on valuations
o Ability to manage client cash flows and unit flows
o Ensure instructions are valid, signatories are checked, cash is made available and release of payment is validated at the bank
o Understand the difference between accruals / earnings and receipts
o Understand the concept of a general ledger and associated accounting principles that will keep this in balance
o Ability to troubleshoot items independently
o You understand tolerance level checking against a benchmark and are familiar with what is deemed as an unacceptable asset and NAV fund price variance
o You will monitor cash management interest rates per bank for your fund/s
