Job Description:
A leading chemical manufacturing plant is looking for an Instrument Mechanician who would be responsible for installing, modifying, maintaining and repairing electronic instruments and control systems
Main job function
Ensure that all instrumentation within the factory is maintained, inspected and calibrated on a regular basis.
Ensure that damaged, ageing or redundant instrumentation is replaced and/or removed timeously.
Complete daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual checks as required on all instrumentation.
Attend to breakdowns, conduct fault finding and root-cause analysis in the event of breakdowns to ensure they are resolved as efficiently as possible.
Installing, commissioning and testing of electronic instruments.
Co-ordinating work with Engineers, Technicians and other maintenance personnel.
Interpreting test data to diagnose malfunctions and systematic performance problems. Calibration of related equipment.
Maintenance and repairs to PLC equipment, which includes functional testing, upgrades and related work.
Conduct regular standbys to ensure continual production is achieved with minimal downtime where possible.
Attend to electrical work and breakdowns as and when required in the absence of electricians or when on standby.
Ensure compliance to OHSAct,
Qualifications
N6 with Instrumentation & Process Control or equivalent
Must be trade tested Instrument Mechanician
Experience/Criteria
3-5 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
Must be computer literate
Must have excellent communication skills
Must have strong technical skills
Must be willing to work overtime
