Instrumentation Technician
West Coast – Vredendal
Salary negotiable
Elaborate your skills by providing support to the Control and Instrumentation team. You will be responsible for higher level fault finding and software support. Show your brilliant problem solving skills by contributing to new ideas and improvement in the department.

Qualification & Experience
• National Diploma Instrumentation / N6 with a recognized Instrumentation Trade Certificate / T3 or S4 qualification - Electrical Engineering (Control Systems)
• Operational experience in maintenance within a heavy industry environment
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and SCADA.
• Process plant experience

Knowledge & Skills
• A working knowledge of NOSA Health & Safety principles, ISO standards and Continuous Improvement
• Working knowledge of PA Densities and Weightometers, Simocodes and VSD’s
• Sound knowledge of SAP PM
• Good communication skills
• Valid code 08 driver’s license
• The successful candidate should have a sound knowledge of and experience in all aspects of field instrumentation
• Commissioning and faultfinding would be further prerequisites

• Ensure and maintain a healthy environment, safe operations and practices.
• Comply with SHEC- and technical requirements, in line with Plant / Asset availability targets.
• Implement SHEC programs and ensure adherence to MHSA.
• Monitor, identify and respond to defects and / or sub-standard equipment performance and other improvement opportunities.

Continuous Improvement:
• Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities whilst keeping abreast of new developments and technology within the specialist field.
• Conduct research work in order to initiate process changes.
• Liaise with other sections; manage projects and technology to enhance operations.

Services Efficiency:
Assume responsibility for supporting production departments by adhering to production- and services maintenance schedules.
Attend to breakdowns whilst maintaining set production targets.
Ensure effective water and energy management, the optimal use of physical assets and available resources (both people and equipment).
Assume responsibility for the quality of maintenance work conducted within the functional area. Conduct trouble-shooting in order to identify root cause for substandard operating conditions.
