PACKAGE
3 Year contract (renewable)

Single and family contracts available.
Generous Tax free basic salary. 15 000 - 27 875 Qatari Riyals per month. 27 875 QR is +/- 5970 GBP / 6700 EUR / 7600 USD. Salary paid in QR.
Free fully furnished accommodation provided.
Transport allowance of 1250 QAR per month added to your basic salary.
Free "round trip" (to and from home country) flight tickets on joining, annual leave, and on repatriation. For those with family contract offered this will be also be applicable for your family (wife and up to 3 children up to 18 years old).
School allowance: 21 000 QAR (maximum) for up to 3 children (ages 5- 18) per child per academic year provided that they are studying in private schools in Doha.
40 days paid annual vacation days.
End of Service Award (at end of contract) which is one month's salary for each year worked.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: (FULL TIME STUDIES ONLY)

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Biomedical Engineering or related field.

Minimum Experience: (LICENSED OR REGISTERED EXPERIENCE)

Essential Experience:

5 years of experience in technology transfer, including experience in intellectual property protection and commercializing technology within a health, pharma or scientific related organization.

Language Skills:

Fluent in English - Oral and Written.

JOB SPECIFICATION
Position Summary:

As an Academic Health System the Corporation would like to employ staffs who contribute to the mission and vision of the Corporation. Research improvement and innovation is a key and integral component to this vision and the postholder must be able to contribute to an Integrated strategic vision and planning for Clinical, Research and Education and training.
Under the direction of the AHS Program management office, the postholder will work with the AED of IP and Commercialization and identify, support the development of and manage the Corporations intellectual property assets. The Postholder will provide professional support in the identification and supporting the development of intellectual property and will act as the key liaison point between the Corporation and other partners and organisations to facilitate the development of IP.
Principal Accountabilities:

1. This role will contribute to strengthening the understanding and development of ideas, innovations and associated IP. The postholder will support the AED of IP and Commercialization in the following;

Support intellectual property management and commercial development activity across the Corporation by providing advice and support in identifying an assessing new opportunities from ideas generated from employees or on-going research through regular liaison with staff, researchers and students.

2. The postholder will utlilise expertise from, and act as a liaison with, internal and external departments, networks and partnerships which would be able to provide support to the AED in the following areas;

Developing a commercial plan for each opportunity with commercial IP, including assessment of commercial potential and review of competing technologies;
Protecting IP through patent application filing, or other appropriate mechanisms (including trademark, design rights and copyright), and managing patent portfolio, including instructing qualified Patent Agents, key decision making and management of patent application costs;
Managing formal patent documentation including IPR Assignments.
Identifying potential licensees/commercial development partners, preparing marketing materials and approaches to companies;
Negotiating commercial terms for an IP Licence, Industrial Collaboration, Service Agreement etc.;
Drafting internal agreements e.g. IP assignments for students/staff and drafting or reviewing external legal agreements governing IP Licences Options, Industrial Collaborations, Consortium Agreements, Service Agreements etc.;
3. Negotiate, with support from internal departments, inter-organizational agreements to allocate the responsibilities for expenses, financial return, and license management; negotiate material transfer and confidentiality agreements and oversee compliance with national and international intellectual property reporting regulations.

4. Provide information to the Corporations legal department to assist in determining intellectual property patentability and to oversee adherence to application timelines.

5. Identify support to evaluate software and copyright disclosures, identify and review existing and new contracts and file appropriate copyright registration;

6. Develop appropriate commercialization strategies for intellectual property, including identifying prospective licensees through the use of information bases, discussions with inventors, and contacts obtained through industry affiliation.

7. Prepare non-confidential disclosures and descriptions of intellectual property and related information for potential licensees.

8. Supervise, train, and evaluate staff as assigned.

9. Develop, present and/or coordinate workshops/ training and/or lectures on intellectual property and commercialization.

10. Perform related duties as assigned.
