Main Purpose
The post holder shall be responsible for the internal audit function, including but not limited to audit planning, audit execution, audit reporting, compliance & risk management.

Key Performance Areas:
? To conduct risk assessment, three year strategic internal audit plan and the annual internal audit plan.
? To document the system in operation and identify control’s and risks for auditing testing.
? To prepare an audit programme and audit planning memorandum
? To execute audits according to annual plan and report on progress to management and Audit committee
? To conduct Ad hoc audits and special investigation as approved by the audit committee and management.
? To conduct test controls, document evidence and compile working papers.
? To raise exceptions and prepare recommendations for weaknesses and non-compliance issues
? To prepare draft audit reports for management and prepare final report for review and approval by the Audit committee.
? To ensure that the Internal audit function adheres to relevant legislation and IIA standards
? To provide strategic guidance and advice to the union on all matters related risk management, internal controls and business processes.

Competencies and skills required:
? Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting (Hons) or equivalent
? Articled clerk qualification will be an added advantage
? 5 years senior internal audit working experience preferably in a Union or public sector environment.
? Strong analytical and organization skills
? Excellent communication skills and ability to ‘link the dots’
? Assertiveness, results orientated, proactive with ability to initiate
? Exceptional planning skills and ability to handle work pressure.
