Job Description:

* Perform and evaluate control adequacy and effectiveness reviews of business processes.
* Prepare audit plans and programs for execution, including continuous audits.
* Align audit assignments and scope with external auditors to optimise audit coverage to prevent duplication.
* Prepare internal audit working papers and reports.
* Document and report control deficiencies/audit findings and recommendations, and discuss these with management.
* Perform regular follow up with management on the status of resolution of audit findings.
* Governance: Proactively identify and evaluate the company’s control environment. Provide an independent view on the company’s governance, risk management and control processes.
* Keep abreast of emerging industry standards, best practices, industry challenges, upcoming legislation, operational requirements and technology changes related to the internal audit environment.

Qualifications:

* A relevant tertiary qualification (National Diploma or B-degree) in Internal Auditing or other relevant field of study. In addition, completed CIA or studying towards CIA.
* Knowledge of Internal Auditing procedures and standards.
* Proficiency in accounting principles.
* At least 2 years’ experience and audit exposure within an insurance company will be beneficial, but at minimum experience working in a risk-based environment within the financial services sector.
* Knowledge of Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) would be beneficial.
* Ability to plan and execute an audit by applying risk and control concepts.
* Ability to observe, understand and document business processes, while identifying gaps in logic.

* Ability to work independently, whilst taking initiative.

* Critical thinking.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, advanced Excel skills.
