INTERNAL IT AUDITOR

Our client, a leading investment company based in Cape Town is looking for an Internal Auditor to join their Internal Audit Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Internal Audit Manager in executing Internal Audit activities within an Institutional and Retail Investment Management environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role entails assisting the Internal Audit function in the risk-based planning and development of the organisation-wide audit coverage plan, involvement in planning and completing audit activities, identifying risks and controls as well as coaching and developing a team of auditors.

KEY FOCUS AREA:

Full involvement in the audit lifecycle which includes:

• Scoping and planning audit engagements
• Process analysis, risk and control assessment reviews
• Fieldwork which entails developing an audit program and carrying out detailed reviews as well as key controls and substantive audit testing
• Review of audit work performed
• Developing pragmatic recommendations/solutions in conjunction with management and identifying best practice as well as appropriate controls to improve the control environment
• Writing reports including communicating findings to senior management
• Assisting with regular reporting to the Risk and Compliance Committee and Audit Committee
• Monitoring and follow up to ensure the implementation of corrective actions to address control weaknesses
• Develop business acumen and operational knowledge
• Assisting in promoting risk awareness throughout the Group
• Supervising, developing and coaching junior auditors

QUALIFICATION/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

• CIA, CA (SA), CISA qualified (newly qualified or equivalent qualification)
• Minimum 2-3 internal audit experience gained in the financial services industry (non-negotiable. Strong candidates that possess extensive experience will be considered for a more senior role
• Asset Management or Life Product Administration experience as well as strong industry knowledge that covers both retail and institutional financial services would be an advantageous
• Candidates with a proven ability for both operational and technology components of the business will have a distinct advantage
