The Biovac Institute requires a Recruiter to contribute to its mission of establishing local biological and vaccine manufacturing capability at its Cape Town based site. Being the only one of its’ kind in South Africa, Biovac strives to respond to the vaccine needs of the developing countries, specifically South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa. This is a particularly exciting time for the company as it continues to grow, strengthen and build on its success and further develop its capabilities, products, services and market diversification.

The successful incumbent will report to the Head of Human Resources.

The Key Performance Areas for this position include:

• Expand the company’s brand and recruitment mediums in support of attracting and securing the best talent

o Update and expand the company’s careers page to increase attraction of high caliber candidates within the industry
o Develop and maintain existing and new partnerships with approved recruitment service providers and institutions from which potential candidates can be sourced
o Establish & conduct branding and recruitment initiatives via social media
o Implement the direct referral process amongst Biovac staff as a medium to connect with their networks in the industry.

• Recruitment and onboarding

o Manage the mass recruitment drive related to projects as well as the routine, ad hoc recruitment upon receiving authorization to recruit
o Team capacity monitoring discussions with HOD's and recommend efficiency initiatives to ensure effective headcount management
o Ensure requisitions are submitted for the vacancies
o Conduct all recruitment advertisement, shortlisting, background checks for talent identified during recruitment
o Deliver against recruitment timelines and manage recruitment activities cost effectively and in accordance with the approved workforce plan
o Create onboarding itineraries and ensure company induction and onboarding is implemented timeously as per the process timeously for all new starters.

• Reporting and Compliance

o Ensure awareness and implementation of all legislative & compliance issues relating to HR (NQF, SDA, EEA, LRA, POPI)
o Development & submission of accurate and relevant HR recruitment data & progress reporting to all stakeholders on an ad-hoc as well as weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

• Participate efficiently and creatively in planning of implementation objectives and timelines with stakeholders and managers.

• System improvements
o Creating and maintaining the recruitment system efficiency.
o Devise and contribute to current system and process improvements

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Matric/ grade 12// equivalent as well as appropriate degree or diploma in Human Resources or Business or related subject or equivalent extensive experience
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a recruiter within a recruitment agency/ consulting environment and corporate experience as an internal recruiter. Experience in the Biotechnology industry would be an advantage.
• Certification in Project Management with previous experience in project management
• Sound knowledge of South African employment laws and best practices that pertain to recruitment.
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows, specifically at an intermediate level in excel, outlook, word, power point
