Job Description:

As Trader you will drive sales and profitability of a division of our international Fruit Marketing company (main commodities: apples, pears, citrus and table grapes). You will bear responsibility for sales, customer satisfaction, risk management and information exchange within our commercial team. Your high energy, drive, creativity and outstanding communication skills will be prevailing to further develop the business to achieve continued growth of the business.
Planning and coordinating international shipment of goods, during which negotiations with a variety of people, shippers, agents and producers and clients, are done. Excellent customer service skills is expected from the applicant.
Responsible for sales within his/her categories. (Volumes, deliveries according to specs, margins, contract formulation and execution, and cost price calculations)
Helps formulating the sales budgets for the category
Ensures optimal customer satisfaction
Responsible for handling of commercial issues/complaints
Suggests new trade opportunities and product development.
Keeps track of international market developments.
Keeps track of the results and suggests corrective action plans when needed
Contributes to continuously improve the work procedures and systems of the fruit desk
Ensure all suppliers meet our stringent vendor approval requirements
Participates in and contributes to the sales meetings
Visits existing as well as potential customers and suppliers (inter)nationally
Visits trade related fairs.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Bachelor degree in commerce/international trade and 3 - 5 years experience in a trade role (experience in Far East and South East Asia markets will count in your favour)
Excellent customer service skills – both verbal and written
Effective contract negotiation skills
Experience in an export environment and successful customer service experience
Awareness of relevant prevailing quality and food safety regulations
Ability to solve challenging problems
Being able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with minimal direction
Stress resistant
Proficiency in the Afrikaans & English language (in writing and verbally) is a must
An “international” mindset, result driven, attention to detail and a team player
Willingness to travel, also internationally
IT affinity: advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
