Investment Analyst

Location: Woodstock, Cape Town
Salary: Negotiable

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, actuarial science or investment and a CFA.
Advantageous: Fluency in Urdu and Hindi to service clients
Bloomberg knowledge

Duties:
Conduct research investment research and analysis.
Identify investment opportunities to protect and grow investment portfolios.
Perform detailed fundamental equity analysis, valuation and ratio analysis
Undertake comprehensive evaluation and analysis to ensure that a thorough due diligence is conducted before the firm undertakes an investment into a security on behalf of its client.
Evaluate the impact of changes in macro and micro economic variables and its implications on the risk and return profile of a security.
Evaluate long-term history and numerical data and conduct a quantitative analysis of companies looking at trend line and statistical numbers.
Responsible for developing investment ideas using quantitative techniques.
Identification of trends in global and local economic and market condition using statistical and mathematical projections.
Apply stochastic and financial modelling to identify undervalued securities across local and global markets.
Apply portfolio construction techniques to minimise risk and inherent volatility within portfolios and to analyse and quantify inherent risk within investment portfolios managed by the firm.
Write reports which articulate the outcomes of the quantitative methods applied which can be used to make substantive investment decisions.
Submit reports for and attend strategy and model portfolio meetings.
Ensure that you use the systems available optimally and enhance the usage of the system such us Decalog, Xamin, I-Net, Bloomberg, Thompson, Reuters to assist in your decision-making process
Ensure those procedure manuals are followed always, and regularly maintained when applicable.
Generate your own investment ideas, make a recommendation based on analysis and adequate due diligence done by you and motive why further research should be conducted if necessary.
You must ensure that meeting notes and action points are well documented and filed accordingly.
Oversight function over group performance analysis function including extraction of performance data and calculations for performance and risk analysis.
Perform reason ability checks on all performance and risk analysis output.
Prepare and review performance and risk analysis reports.
Management reporting and/or reporting to the CIO must include an executive summary with an analysis supporting the executive summary based on the company internal requirements. Where an issue is highlighted then the report must contain suggestions for resolution of the issue.
Ensure that your reports are well prepared and delivered to the investment committee.
