One of South Africa’s leading companies in the Media and Entertainment space is on the lookout for an inventive, tech-savvy, inspired individual with extensive experience in developing applications for mobile devices on the Android or iOS development platforms.
Our Client wants someone who tends to focus on ease-of-use, intuitive interfaces, engaging experiences while also covering a wide range of functionality such as that found on their existing platforms.
 
Roles and responsibilities:

• Understanding user stories and providing estimates to sprint planning sessions
• Understanding the interdependency of user stories
• Active engagement with the team on all areas of development
• Code review of peers’ work
•  Knowledge and experience of best practices such as:
  • Test-driven development
  • Continuous integration
  • Continuous deployment
• Strong experience in appropriate languages: Java and the Android SDK or Objective C/Cocoa
• Devising possible solutions to anticipated problems
• Working as part of a team, which may be established for a particular project
• Combining and testing all elements of program design
• Thorough unit-testing of the written code
• Reacting to problems and correcting the program as necessary
• Evaluating and increasing the program's effectiveness
• Adapting the program to new requirements, as necessary
• Conducting user acceptance testing to ensure the program can be used easily
• Updating, repairing, modifying and developing existing software and generic applications
• Constantly keeping up to date with emerging trends and practices in the field

 
Minimum Qualification and Experience:

• Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or Maths related discipline
• Proficiency in programming languages like C, C++, iOS, Java, Objective-C, etc.
• Basic knowledge of interface design and development as an added advantage
