IR Officer 2 POSITIONS - 12 MONTHS CONTRACT

Department: Limpopo Liphalale

1.1 Purpose and Scope
The IR Officer will be responsible for ALL site related industrial relations pertaining to the
specific contract.
1.2 Responsibilities
The list of responsibilities below is not intended to be exhaustive. Other tasks or duties may
be assigned from time to time that are within the capabilities of the job incumbent.
1.2.1 Recruitment and interview process of employees for this Project.
1.2.2 Medical Examinations, Inductions and Badging.
1.2.3 Contract forms and Training requirements.
1.2.4 Disciplinary Procedures.
1.2.5 Control of Absenteeism
1.2.6 Working hours, Exemption hours;
1.2.7 Comply as per the PLA/PA;
1.2.8 Monthly in house Shop Steward Meetings;
1.2.9 Weekly IR meetings with our MRP client;
1.2.10 CDR cases;
1.2.11 HR audits;
1.2.12 Compilation of monthly IR Reports;
1.2.13 Maintenance of contract files, personal details, medicals, inductions, certificate
banking details etc.
1.2.14 Ensure that the provisions and requirements of the contract are understood and
adhered to.
1.2.15 Ensure that the company’s contractual and commercial position is protected and
maximised.
1.2.16 Participate in Company Lean Management Programme and establish “best practice"
for development.
1.2.17 Carry out a thorough review of all processes and procedures currently being used
by the Company and review where improvements could be made to increase
efficiency.
1.3 Organisational Relationships
1.3.1 Honesty and integrity are critical to the position and the ability of management to trust
the job incumbent is essential.
1.3.2 Working relationships with company staff are demonstrably good.
1.3.3 Overtime is willingly worked where it is a Client requirement or unavoidable.
1.3.4 Commitment to additional tasks within the scope of your job description is given

1.3.5 Liaising with all the relevant players to ensure the smooth flow of work within the
department and ensuring good work ethics and morale prevails.
. 1.3.6 The IR Officer reports to the IR Coordinator / IR head of specific individual contract.
2 Job Requirements
2.1 Education and Training
2.1.1 The IR Officer should have a suitable tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations /
Labour Law, with above average numeracy and literacy.
2.1.2 Work within guidelines and rules, policies and practice
2.1.3 Be attentive to detail, cooperate and participate in relevant training programs
2.1.4 Follow job procedures
2.1.5 Work Safely
2.1.6 Have a drivers licence.
2.2 Technical Requirements
2.2.1 Fully conversant in the English language, additional languages will be an advantage.
2.2.2 Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel, and Outlook.
2.2.3 Knowledge and experience with the Metal Industries Main Agreement.
2.2.4 Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
2.2.5 The ability to delegate.
2.3 Experience
3 years of experience in a similar role.
