A renowned community development organisation seeks a Computer Laboratory Officer to assist in the smooth operation and growth of the E-Learning Centre division of the Main Library, working collaboratively with both internal and with external stakeholders. This position is based in King Williams Town, Eastern Cape, reporting to the Librarian.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Computer Lab Officer will have responsibilities in two main areas;

Teaching and coordination (60%)

- Teaching and coordinating Computer Literacy Classes

- Teaching and coordinating ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) Classes

- Teaching and coordinating other IT training that may be added as and when necessary

- Coordinating training undertaken by third parties

- Coordinating activities within the Computer Lab/E-Learning Centre

IT support (30%)

- Assist in monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks at the Centre

- Troubleshooting system and network problems

- Diagnosing and solving: hardware and software faults

- Replacing software as required


SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

In order to provide these outputs, the Computer Lab Officer will have:

- A degree or diploma in IT with a minimum of THREE years of relevant experience in a similar position

- Strong administrative abilities and an attention to detail.

- Relationship building, networking and interpersonal skills.

- Problem solving skills; an ability to understand, articulate and structure solutions to needs.

- Communication skills: ability to communicate fluently in English; fluency in other official South African languages is also desirable.

- An ability to use a variety of technology

- A team player personality with the ability also to use initiative and work independently.

- A demonstrable commitment to the organization, its vision, values and its approach.


SCHEDULE and REMUNERATION:

- The salary and benefits offered are market

- The Computer Lab Officer will work standard office hours not exceeding 40 hours per week, based on daily requirements

- As requested candidates should be prepared to work at evening or weekend shifts within the number of hours on activities associated with the organization's programmes.
