A Company based in the North of Pretoria, has a vacancy an IT Operations Manager – to start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
The IT team leader is responsible for envisioning and setting goals in the IT department.
Processing, storing, transmitting and protecting information in the organization.
Ensuring that every team member has a role to play in achieving set goals and targets.
The leader is a keen team player who teaches his/her team mates how to cooperate in order to achieve organizational goals and targets, and also coordinates other team members.
To be effective on the job he/she must understand basic information technology specialties like computer networking, telephony, web development and management, programming, data and network security, as well as data entry.
Responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of all IT infrastructure and software systems used throughout the Group, including end-user computers, printers, servers, LANs & WANs (including Wifi networks), plus all other IT and telecoms hardware and software.
In charge of maintaining the company’s network and data storage resources, and protecting it against all security attacks and compromise, and ensuring sufficient disaster recovery procedures are in place to mitigate data loss.
Carry out regular assessments of the company’s systems and operations to ascertain level of exposure to risk, and then take further steps to eliminate or manage them.
Responsible for IT staff welfare by providing all their needs, and ensuring a conducive work environment for enhanced IT service delivery.
Developing strategies that will meet the organization’s goal, and to supervise daily activities of workers for optimal IT service delivery to the organization and its external IT clients.

Duties, Tasks and Activities
Key duties, tasks, and responsibilities that make up the work activities of the Group IT Operations Manager, managing the team in the IT department:
To delegate duties and tasks within the IT department.
Review completed tasks to ascertain compliance with standards.
Monitor all team members and provide necessary advice and guidance.
Perform periodic risk assessments and initiate risk control strategies.
Organize attendance of required seminars and training to keep team members up to date with new techniques and methods.
Keep up with trends in the constantly evolving information technology industry.
Perform regular IT audits to discover areas of weaknesses and fortify them.
Work alongside other departments to achieve company goals and visions.
Provide relevant reports to the management.
Provide solutions to any complex IT related challenges in the organization.
Perform regular appraisal of team member’s performance and devise strategies to help with improvement.
Carry out in-depth research to reveal new and better methods of handling functions within the department.
Ensure that the company’s data and information are protected from unauthorized access.
Supervise procurement, repair and maintenance of all IT and telecoms technologies.

Requirements
Diploma or degree in computer science or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT support, administration or operations.
Experience in IT and/or telecommunications systems operations and support.
Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks.
Experience in supplier/vendor service delivery coordination.
Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans
Management and supervisory skills – the person will manage a team of 5 IT personnel
Must be willing to travel often (nationally and internationally)
