Our client, in the automotive manufacturing industry is looking for an IT Specialist / Systems Administrator with a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
Salary between R300000 & R400000 per annum CTC
Minimum requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Information Systems and / or MCSE.
- A minimum of 3 years experience (PC Hardware, Programming, Communication Skills and AS400)
- Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing / automotive environment
Duties:
- Selecting the correct storage media to be used
- Ensuring that this media and storage devices are error free
- Transferring of information from the network/servers onto the correct storage media, on a daily basis
- Check the logs and verifies that all information has been backed-up successfully
- Performing “Manual” back-ups if the automatic back-up is not successful
- To ensure safekeeping of critical user and/or company information
- Ensure traceability and recovery of possible lost data have up to date readily available information
- Liaises with end-users regarding problems on the following applications:
- JBA (Secondary), MICROSOFT Office Suite, Network related, assisting users with any IT related problems, providing assistance with all hardware and software related issues (excl. AS/400), reduce lost time as a result of application / human error, enhance employee productivity and evaluate the efficiency of the windows servers on an ongoing basis
- Logging of all problems via corporate or to the service provider (e.g. Server Errors
- Following up to ensure the problem has corrected
- Liaises with the service provider to ensure correct
- Maintains all production related IT equipment and specialized equipment
- Increase the efficiency of the Network system
- Ensure the correct billing of the service provided
- Reduce downtime of production critical equipment
- Ensure adherence to all corporate requirements in area of responsibility
- Corporate compliance
- Cleaning error logs from routers on a daily basis
- Checking the Internet for error messages and print report thereof
- Defragmenting of the computer hard drive and page files
- Monitoring virus detections and examining virus patterns
- Reduce computer component failure
- Ensure optimal performance of computer systems
- Setting up new and old computer systems –(Input methods used)
- Arrange for the installation of network points (by using external providers)
- Arrange for telephone lines and handset units (by using external providers)
- Fixing CRT’s (Monitors), but limited to replacing blown fuses
- Servicing of printers by cleaning the OPC Drums and / or replacing damaged parts with new parts
- Cleaning of computer equipment
- Enhance staff communication and productivity
- To ensure the functionality of all computer equipment and / or related systems
- Keeping accurate stock of all IT related items being used by the plants
- Identifying low stock and placing orders from local suppliers (Manager to pre-approve all orders)
- Ensuring IT spares / equipment and consumables meets the required IT quality standards
- Liaise with suppliers on input methods used.

- Carrying out any related tasks as instructed by a Manager
- Ensure achievement of departmental objectives
