IT Support Engineer

Temp contract – 6 Months – after which possible extension or possibly permanent depending on client needs

Remuneration:
Maximum R 20 000 per month

Purpose of the Job:
We are looking for a temporary staff member for a 6 month contract (with possible 3-6 month extension or permanent employment if we need the resource longer.)
Person must be skilled in Linux with minimum 2 years experience. I need someone that can start working ASAP and that would not need Linux training.

Main Functions:
Must be well presentable and fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Own transport and a valid drivers license a must.
Responsibilities include telephonic support, setting up servers/routers and installations at customers as well as other general support

Requirements:
• Two years experience with Network Support.
• Knowledge of Ubuntu Linux, routing and iptables essential.
• Any experience in VOIP phones/gateway setup and Postfix/Zimbra will be a bonus.
• LPI/RHCE, A+ or N+ qualifications.
• Grade 12 / Matric required.
• Patience to work daily with a wide variety of non-technical users in technical support.
• Detail oriented.
• Open to change and dynamic responsibilities.
• Passion for IT and technical topics.
• Good general IT literacy.
• High curiosity and desire to learn.
