IT Team Leader (Support) – up to R35k CTC per month (DOE) – London Based Employer!
IT Lab is looking for an experienced IT Team Leader who has at least 3-5 years of experience of team management in a similar role and who loves people!
BIG Talent is the recruitment division for the Big Ideas Group; comprising IT Lab, Found SameWave, LittleBird and LinkLab. We are based in London, and on the Waterfront in Cape Town City Centre.
The purpose of this role is:
- To manage and support a team of 15 - 25 IT engineers both on client site and a remote helpdesk

Main purposeThe key function of an operations team leader within IT Lab is to provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to a group of individuals (their team) for the purpose of achieving a key result or group of aligned results. The team leader monitors the quantitative and qualitative result that is to be achieved. In addition, the responsibilities of a team leader vary greatly between organizations, but usually includes some responsibility for team building and ensuring teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Line manage a team of 15 – 25 remote support service desk engineers
- Performing reviews and appraisals.
- Act as escalation support when needed, assisting the support team on troubleshooting and resolving incidents and requests.
- After hours on call support as and when required (ad-hoc)
- Create and maintain technical documentation pertaining to the company’s systems
- Contribute to the department’s continual service improvement plan
- Compile regular reports on activity and project progress
- Work with other team leaders to ensure business goals and SLA targets are met
- Regular meetings with various other stakeholders to discuss performance, resourcing and process improvement

Person requirements:- 3 – 5 years of experience of team management/supervision in an IT environment on an IT Service Desk is distinctly preferred.
- Work experience in an IT outsource/service company
- Natural leader & mentor
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Above average MS Excel/reporting package skills
Specific Skill requirements:
- Exposure to ITIL methodologies hugely advantageous and DISTNCTLY PREFERRED.
