IT TECHNICIAN 6 MONTHS CONTRACT

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• To diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems and across a range of software applications.
• To assist all our users with any logged IT related incident when logged on the IT helpdesk and when called upon.
• To accurately record, update and document requests using the IT helpdesk system.
• To install and configure new IT equipment.
• Maintain and update IT asset register
• To resolve incidents and upgrade different types of software and hardware.
• To resolve incidents with printers, copiers and scanners.
• Perform regular software backups and deploy security updates.
• Setting up accounts, repairing or replacing faulty hardware and configuring network settings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• A+, N+, MCITP, Matric
• MS Office knowledge, Knowledge on Active Directory, 2 - 3 years MS Exchange Server knowledge. Windows Operating Systems, 8, 8.1 and 10. Windows Server 2008 and 2012 experience.
• English
• 3 years Desktop Support minimum in IT operations, network or support environments.

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Oversee the daily performance of computer systems
• Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems
• Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software
• Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications
• Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities
• Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support
• Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or internal technicians for service
• Download upgrades / patches from vendor websites
• Install and support operating system software and patches
• Install and support windows desktop packages including anti-virus and mail
• Provide support on printing problems, connectivity problems, hardware and in-house developed packages
• Provide technical support and resolve calls within 24 hours’ maximum
• Troubleshooting, General housekeeping
• Problem resolution (Problem management / Incident Resolution)
• Respond and resolve helpdesk calls, Update helpdesk system with any / all changes /updates
• Adherence to internal IT protocol and procedures, including change control
• Provide basic training to users on operating system and desktop packages
