Java Developer
Contract: 6 months, which is extendible. Start: Immediate
Exp: 7 years. Rate per hour: R315

OUTPUTS
• Development of a machine intelligence product leading towards the creation of a virtual assistant or chatbot
• Translate business knowledge and logic to machine knowledge and logic using a structured markup language (AIML)
• Contribute to the product architecture and design
• Primary responsibility is to take ownership of the technical development and be able to work independently
• Contribute to a common framework that supports a single codebase for Mobile and Web applications
• Knowledge and understanding of development methodologies
• Multitask and prioritization of tasks
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure quality solutions are developed and re-work is avoided
• Define re-usable libraries, apply architecture and development patterns
• Participate in R&D to further enhance the product
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities

Knowledge
• Java EE, RMI, JMX, JMS, Servlets
• HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, Comet
• Web Services: SOAP, JSON, XML
• Knowledge of XML Databases, XPATH, XSLT, XSD
• Eclipse IDE, MySQL
• Practical experience with an ESB, endpoints, routing, translations, messaging
• Apache Tomcat, JBoss or similar
• AIML or some AI experience a bonus
• Good command of the English language a necessity

Experience
• 5-10 Years + developing web and mobile applications
• 5-10 Years + developing large scale java based application server - enterprise software
• 5-10 Years + HTML, HTML 5 and JavaScript Experience
• 5-10 Years + working with Relational Databases (SQL, MySQL etc.)

Qualifications
• 3 Year IT Degree or equivalent experience
• Sun Certified Java Developer
