Qualifications:

Engineering qualification (either Civil; Mechanical; Chemical; Industrial Engineering)
A course in business management, and/ or some experience managing staff or a business

Experience:

A young business minded person (up to 35 years) who wants to work in general management (as opposed to being an engineer);
having done some business courses, or having had some exposure (finance – i.e. costs; budgets; cost of manufacturing etc.).
Some knowledge of manufacturing in an engineering environment a plus.
Some previous exposure in a construction (road construction) environment advantageous.

Reports to: Regional Manager

Reporting Staff: Line managers (Administration; Production; Safety; Workshop; Junior Ops manager; Logistics; Sales)

Responsibilities:

- Ensuring that branch meets its obligations in terms of volumes, productivity & profitability
- Ensuring max use of assets and effective cash flow
- Tenders & Quotes
- Ensuring that company policies and procedures are carried out (operational, safety etc)
- Management of multi-disciplinary team of line managers (Administration; Production; Workshop; Junior Ops; Logistics) to general staff in a
unionised environment
- Building & maintaining customer relationships
- Identification & management of risks (including financial, products, safety etc)
- Ensuring development of staff Inherent requirements
- Good management skills (planning, organising, control) – must want to and must be motivated by management of people at different levels
- Leadership skills – provide direction for line managers
- Adaptability
- Stress Tolerance
- Must enjoy being hands on in a business (high involvement manager)
- Very high Safety orientation
- Good communication skills at all levels
