Our client, a multi-national company in the Agricultural sector based in the Cape Winelands of Cape Town, is looking for a Junior Accountant to join their Finance team within the Product Control division. This is a very hands-on, high visibility role and will require intensive commitment.

Job description:
Daily monitoring of derivatives and physicals to ensure independency and accuracy in daily and monthly reporting.

Main responsibilities:
• Storage & Handling
• Review, Analise & Reconcile Storage, Warehousing/Handling Accounts
• Daily Storage and Handling Accrual Calculations
• Posting of Monthly Journals
• Prepare supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
• Prepare Commercial Reports
• Ensure accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
• Brokers
• Daily Broker MTM reconciliation
• Review, Analise & Reconcile Brokers Accounts
• Posting of Monthly Journals
• Prepare supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
• Prepare Commercial Reports
• Ensure accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
• Data Validation
• Ensure accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
• Ensuring accurate data interface from Front End Trading System to Accounting System
• Problem Resolution
• Ensure accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
• Execute usual accounting functions, which include operating the general ledger system and month-end close responsibilities
• Preparation for internal and external audits
• Any ad-hoc duties that may arise from time-to-time

Requirements:
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree with 1 year’s work experience or 4 years’ work experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
• Strong Excel knowledge – Level 3 or higher (or able to learn quickly)
• Available to start 1st June 2018
• Able to work overtime when required
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans
• Own vehicle with valid driver’s license
