A Small Accounting and Consulting business in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town is looking for a Junior Bookkeeper and Administrator.

Job Purpose:  Administration of the accounting practice and bookkeeping as well as payroll services for clients

Primary Responsibilities:  
Bookkeeping of clients’ monthly accounts on Sage One Accounting and Excel
Payroll services on Sage One Payroll
Scheduling of meetings and answering the telephone in assisting the owner
Acting as PA to the owner and ensuring that emails are answered promptly
General administration of the accounting practice
Filing of documents
Manage of office supplies
Statutory obligations such as dealing with CIPC and SARS
eFiling on SARS
Easyfiling for the IRP5’s and biannual EMP5 reconciliations
Ensuring that the respective list, such as for annual returns and provisional taxes, are updated for new clients.
Preparation of engagement and other documents for signature
Duties as may be communicated from time-to-time by the owner
Minimum level of Education:  Bookkeeping certificate/diploma (or equivalent) or bookkeeping experience

Works methodically
Process driven and can follow steps in a logical order.
Detail orientated and deadline driven
Able to come up with solutions to problems and present this to clients
Able to design and implement processes – effective and efficient ways to deliver work
Ability to multi-task is extremely important as you will be working with multiple clients at once
Ethical, honest, and able to keep information confidential
Able to manage time according to the clients’ schedule

Competencies required:
Proficient in MS Office
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Bilingual in Afrikaans and English (it is the company’s policy to correspond with their clients in the client’s language of choice approx. 80% Afrikaans base of clients)
Ability to treat clients’ information confidentially and comply with the Chartered Accountants Code of Ethics
Motivated and energetic individual who is willing to learn

Prior experience:
Minimum 1-year experience  in Secretarial and Administration
Experience in dealing with clients and customers
Bookkeeping and Payroll experience - would be advantageous

Other:
Willing to travel to clients periodically with own transportation
Overtime will be required occasionally
Operating hours are relatively flexible (40-hour work week)
The practice closes at 14:00 on Friday’s.
The practice is closed between Christmas and New Year
Able to complete SAIPA articles
