Position: Junior Engineer
Type: Permanent position
Area: Midrand in Gauteng (stable growing company in IT industry)
Remuneration: R10 000 – R15 000 p/m (Includes benefits)

Skills and qualification required
• Networking - CCNA is a requirement or similar (Mikrotik, 3Com, HP, Dell)
• Networking experience (at least 1 – 2 years in similar role)
• Microsoft Windows server - MCP level - certification not necessary.
• Knowledge of Linux systems (Redhat/Ubuntu/Solaris)
• SNMP/Syslog/WMI Networking tools knowledge an advantage
• Advanced Excel and Word skills
Completed matric & IT qualification *(Maths HG)
Key Performance Areas
• Operation of network & system monitoring systems for clients
• Act on alarms on monitors
• Perform system admin tasks & maintain database of monitored objects
• Health checks & compilation of reports.
• Develop spectrum of IT technologies.
Health Checks-
• First line support offered
• Notify engineer of out of line situations/ keep informed of progress
• Improvements to health checks
Monitoring outsourced clients
• Monitoring client infrastructure according to SLA
• Responding to exceptions (SLA)
• Administration maintained according to client SLA.
• Daily/Weekly/Monthly QA reports completed.
• Deal with discrepancies in QA report
Reporting
• Standard report - on request.
• Stress & unit report - monthly basis.
Testing-
• Patch and/or "hot fix" release testing
• New & current systems testing compared
Teamwork
• Healthy relationships – staff & clients
• Constructive feedback & consideration of colleagues
Timekeeping & professionalism
• Inform Manager of whereabouts
• Punctual, accurate timekeeping/ meeting/ appointments & deadlines
