JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER - DURBANVILLE

Job purpose and summary
The Junior Graphic Designer will work closely with the Senior Designer and will be responsible for creating consistent and creative design artwork for a wide range of print and digital media, creating logos, presentation layouts and web-based layouts, as required.

Duties and responsibilities
• Design specifications
- Ensure clear brief is received in the correct brief format for all design work requested
- Ensure correct resolution is used for high quality artwork (Digital—72dpi; Print - 300dpi)
- Ensure print artwork is of high quality—5mm bleed must always be set up
- Ensure grammar and spelling is correct—also send to Copywriter for proofreading
- Ensure all artwork ready for approval is set out in accordance with the correct presentation format
• Company brands
- Ensure correct use of corporate identity in all design work, maintaining quality and adhering to assigned branding standards, colour, look and feel
- Ensure correct and high quality logo's are used for internal and external stakeholders in maintaining corporate identity
• Projects
- Ensure that all project deadlines are agreed upon and discussed with Senior Designer
- Ensure that all agreed upon project deadlines are met
- Remain up to date with new design trends and technologies
- Ensure research is done before commencing each project, for effective and efficient design deliverables
- Ask Senior Designer for input on all designs
• Photography
- Ensure relevant photography checks are done:
- Background check ensuring no obstructions and clear backgrounds
- Camera angle—review angle for correct composition
- Camera knowledge—conduct research on different types of photo opportunities (i.e. panoramic, studio, portrait, landscape) as well as research on different types of event photography
- Quality and editing of photos must be of a high standard (i.e. no blurry or under exposed photos)
- Camera equipment—ensure all accessories are kept in the backpack and locked away in the locker; batteries must be charged at all times
• Administration
- Ensure that Smartsheet is updated at all times
- Ensure timesheets are updated
- Ensure daily backups are done
- Chase and follow up on pending quotations related to design and print

Minimum requirements
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification essential
• Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design
• Minimum 1 to 3 years' previous design experience
• Good knowledge of graphic production process
• Photography skills imperative
• Computer literate—Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Office
• Videography / Animation Skills highly advantageous
