Junior/Intermediate Buyer to be responsible for supporting the Operations team with sourcing, supply chain management, inventory management and vendor management for their building/housing construction division.

Junior/Intermediate Buyer – building/housing division

Permanent position based in Bassonia, Johannesburg South

Person must preferably be available immediately or two weeks’ notice if possible;

Must have 3 – 5 years building or housing construction buying experience;

Salary R15,000 to R20,000 per month depending on experience.

In this challenging role you will require the following:

Minimum of a Matric (Grade 12) Certificate.

Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Building Construction environment.

Qualification: Diploma in Purchasing/Procurement an added advantage.

Good interpersonal skills, writing abilities and organisational skills.

Must be computer literate (Buildsmart, CCS, MS Word, Excel and Outlook).

Must be able to work under pressure.

Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans.

Must possess a strong attention to detail.

Must have solid negotiation skills.

Use own initiative and be able to work independently.

In this role the following will be expected from you:

Investigate market for new suppliers.

Receive requisitions and evaluate against allowables.

Tender/negotiate prices to beat allowables.

Check availability and delivery of materials and place orders.

File orders/requisitions and distribute to the relevant departments.

Foster and maintain professional relationships with sites.

Foster and maintain good relationships with suppliers.

Assist as necessary with tender inquiries.
