Working Hours: Monday to Saturday (until closing time), some very early mornings and some later evenings 


Leave: 3 days off per month, closed on Sundays unless there's a function

Small catering company based in Johannesburg needs a Pastry Chef with a formal qualification to join their very creative team in preparing delightful platters and home meals for functions and private individuals all around Jhb. Very hands on with everything, this is a real opportunity to be creative. Be creative self inspired and create beautiful food.


The most difficult part of this position is the tremendous pressure and timing constraints – are you able to be creative under pressure?


What are the key responsibilities of the position?


Assist in the creation of platters to order


Prepare pastries and desserts for events and functions


Maintain kitchen hygiene


Work actively with team to prepare high quality dishes


What type of experience do we require?


-    1-2 years experience


-    Competent to make petit fours; macaronnes; brioche etc.


-    Must have knowledge of managing stock i.e. weighing stock not wasting


 Which qualifications will secure this position?


Recognized Professional Culinary Diploma


Driver’s License a plus


Any additional Pastry courses a plus
