Job Title: Junior Software Developer

Purpose of the job:

To execute, under supervision, the design, development / customization, testing, release, maintenance and enhancements of integrated applications, in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government.

Key Responsibility Areas:

Ensure effective and efficient service delivery in accordance with SITA Policy framework.
Adhere to Architectural and Governance mechanisms for the Software Development section to improve interoperability of government systems and quality of services and deliverables.
Deliver services according to project plans and architectural and governance mechanisms to ensure overall compliance and improved service delivery.
Create analysis and design work packages for integrated software components, taking into consideration SITA’s software development stack and doing this in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government.
Develop Application Service Specifications for integrated software components in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government; Execution of functional testing of software in accordance with SITA Test Methods and Testing Techniques using SITA approved Testing Tools; Participate in packaging and releasing of integrated IT software components in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government.

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum qualifications:

1 - 2 year National Higher Certificate in an ICT related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology and Engineering)/NQF level 5 or accredited specialized courses and/or equivalent.

Experience:

3- 4 years experience in the ICT field, within systems development, implementation and maintenance / enhancements of solutions in the corporate/public sector organization. The experience must include 2- 3 years software development and 2-3 years experience in data management

Technical Competencies Description
Knowledge of:

Systems Development and Analysis, Programming Languages including JAVA, , SQL; Web Development; Implementation and Integration Methodologies, including Testing, Packaging and Release;

Expertise on:

Object Orientation; Various design methodologies like Agile, Spiral and RUP (Rational Unified Processing); Model Driven Architectures; Distributed Architectures/Service Orientated Architectures; Planning and Organizing.

Other Special Requirements:

The incumbent will be required to travel to other offices around the country.
