Package:
  • Salary up to R12k per month dependent on experience

What Does a Junior Support Services Engineer Do?
Working within our Managed Services team you will assume the function of an IT system administrator for a wide range of clients who have outsourced their IT support to IT Lab. This involves the monitoring and management of client backups, routers and firewalls, servers and device endpoints to ensure issues are handled proactively with minimal impact on the client. Resolving issues efficiently, identifying business impacts and escalating accordingly to more senior engineers is a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivery of quality proactive managed services across the IT Lab client base
           o Threat Management
           o Server Updates
           o Patch Management
  • Effective escalation of critical issues needing high level attention
  • Management of risk and downtime during maintenance windows
  • To act as the client IT Administrator for numerous clients
  • Responding to, handling alerts, incidents and escalated problems on the variety of platforms and supported networks from logon to the resolution
  • Performing administrative tasks user and server related 
  • Involvement and presence in core Virtual Teams 
  • IT Administrative tasks following the client on boarding or change to the services provided

  • Good technical understanding of windows server technology

       o Veritas / Symantec Backup Exec
       o Dell AppAssure
       o Microsoft DPM (Data Protection Manager)
       o Ahsay
       o Backup Assist
       o Veeam
  • Able to prioritise under high pressure and work to deadlines
  • Flexible, calm and approachable, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Communication excellence (verbal and written)
  • Sound decision making & judgement
  • Good planning, organisation and risk assessment
  • Good understanding of ITIL framework and processes
  • Understanding and demonstrating minimum standards at all times
