Junior Trader

We are currently seeking a Junior Trader for an Established International Company. You will report directly to the traders.

• Must have 1 – 3 years trading experience
• Permanent position
• Grains background is beneficial

SAFEX:

• An understanding of SAFEX in terms of futures spreads and options.
• Need to be able to apply these trading skills to physical deals; therefore understand implications of the trades.
• Understand dynamics of trading, as well as markets and how events happening will affect the market.
• Need to be creative in structuring physical trades in changing market environments.
• Understand trading tools such as deliveries to SAFEX against short positions etc.

Physical trading:

• Take initiative to liaise with clients and make sales.
• Be creative and understand market dynamics in order to meet client needs.
• Work with Agents to source stock from the market to deliver against sales contracts.
• Be good at multitasking between lots of different contracts at once.
• Have good understanding of carry costs of physical stocks.
• Have a good understanding of forward calculations in order to calculate sales prices and contracts.

Execution:

• Work closely with logistics and transport in order to execute contracts.
• Understand process flows between operations and trade assistants.
• Understand Trade1 so as to capture trades, as well as manage dynamic changes in contracts in the system.
• Have a grip on the process of invoicing and making payments via accounting.
• A good mathematical ability necessary for gripping Profits and Loss on physical trades.
• Understanding of credit risk with counterparties.

General:

• Be good in multitasking and working under pressure.
• Assist senior traders in executing and capturing trades
• Assist senior traders in information and data collection and crunching.
• Be able to present and show conviction in ideas
