Description: A company selling chemicals, consumables and equipment into the scientific sector is looking for a key account manager. The key account manager (KAM) will be responsible for the daily promotion of all product offered by the company; the KAM will be part of a sales and support team and will be expected to coordinate and utilize all to competencies of the chromatography sales and support team to successfully satisfy the customer’s sales or support needs; competes for all existing, and develops new, sales opportunities within the territory to meet or exceed plan - specific focus on assigned set of big revenue accounts; ensures that all necessary resources needed are used efficiently and effectively in order to close sales in favour of the Company; maintain and develop customer relationship on the short and long term; focus on the strategic development of key accounts by implementing and updating Account Planning (cross-functions); monitor and align small accounts growth together with Inside sales Rep. - help on implementing account specific solutions; gathers, analyses and delivers information from the field to allow the company to develop strategies and products appropriate to the market; provides direct information on client needs to market and design together account specific promotion, seminars and exhibitions to support strategic goals on a tactical basis; participate actively in local networks of service, support, customer services, marketing and finance to maximize area performance; update and maintain tools to ensure full transparency of customer information across the organisation; work closely with Consumable Sales counterparts and Technical Sales Counterparts to drive incremental business.

Key Requirements: Must have a four year post matric qualification in a scientific field; drivers licence; demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or like programs helpful; experience with customer contact, teaching or public speaking helpful; laboratory experience; chromatography application, consumable and instrument knowledge; experience in using chromatography equipment; proven track record in an internal sales and / or customer service role (ideally within a analytical sales environment); field travel as necessary (approx. 2 - 4 days per week); Provide product and other relevant information to customers via daily phone contact and personal visits; Develop presentations and customer proposals for such things as supply agreements, supply contracts and preferred vendor agreements

Additional Requirements: Dynamic team player, capable of working on tight deadlines; outstanding communication skills; knowledge of accounts in territory preferred – but not essential; ability to work independently and support small project work; ability to work according to deadlines and prioritise.
