This well known Hotel/Lodge Brand is looking for a Financial Controller at their Lodge in Richard's Bay.The incumbent will carry the full responsibility of the financial management and corporate governance of the unit and provide guidance and sound business advise to the Board of Directors. In addition, he/she will be responsible for safeguarding company assets, revenue flows and cash management. The incumbent will report to the General Manager and Regional Financial Manager.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:- Relevant academic qualification- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position- Knowledge of GAAP, King III, GRAP, IFRS and statutory and legislative requirements- Experience in Financial Management, planning and governance processes and reporting- Knowledge of risk management and implementation processes- Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills- Excellent communication skills in English, including report-writing skills- People development and leadership skills- Business acumen- Strategic thinker and operational leader- Confident self-starter with the ability to be decisive and show initiative- High degree of integrity and passion to succeed- Ability to work under pressure- Proficient in MS Office suite- Proven proficiency on a recognised accounting package, e.g. Pastel, Accpac, etc. KEY OUTPUTS NB: This list is not exhaustive and provides a broad outline of the KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS associated with the job function. 1. Contribute to the financial viability of the hotel by managing financial risk exposure 2. Develop and enforce a financial control framework that conforms to legislative requirements 3. Identify (and where applicable manage the implementation thereof) ways for enabling the business to grow faster and be more efficient and profitable4. Develop and implement finance and accounting policies and procedures and maintain internal control safeguards 5. Planning, setting, monitoring and controlling of budgets 6. Reporting on the performance of the company to the Board of Directors on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis 7. Preparation of Management Accounts for the hotel 8. Liaising with auditors for the annual audit and preparation of the audit pack 9. Working in collaboration with the Regional Financial Manager 10. General management of the staff in the Finance Department 11. Managing revenue, debt collection and the internal audit process 12. Compliance with and implementation of the Group's procurement and provisioning system 13. Ensure effective cost accounting as well as control and management of all company assets 14. Assess the cost/benefit of all prospective contracts and advise the General Manager on implementation matters
