Illovo Sugar South Africa is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Analyst to work in Durban.


Responsibilities and Duties

Conducting tests of physicochemical properties of Illovo Sugar products;
Quality control of raw material, process materials and end products;
Analysis of samples for R&D purposes;
Participation in the work of R&D Team;
Developing internal reports on the analysis, regular recording of the results of the analysis as well as processing related documentation and forwarding it in accordance with agreed way of documentation flow;
Maintaining technical documentation of executed analysis according to defined standards;
Taking care of laboratory equipment and keeping it in good technical condition;
Qualifications and Skills

Education: University degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Technology or similar;
Experience: experience on similar position will be an advantage;
Knowledge in executing tests of petrochemical products, ie: bromine number, flash point, cloud and pour point, boiling range, wax and greases penetration, aniline point, density and viscosity will be an advantage;
Knowledge in technological processes such as distillation, hydrotreating and thermal and catalytic processes will be an advantage;
Knowledge and experience in conducting advanced analyses such as GC-MS, GC-FID etc. will be an advantage;
Knowledge of sampling methods, laboratory techniques, analysis and tests interpretation;
Ability to read and implement norms and standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.);
Knowledge in Good Laboratory Practice;
Ability to work independently and in a Team;
Good communication skills;
Ability to work in shifts system.
