We are looking for a Laboratory Manager for our client (a chemicals explosives manufacturer) – in Potchefstroom

POSITION: LABORATORY MANAGER
DIVISION: BUSINESS SYSTEMS
REPORTING TO: EXEC QUALITY MANAGER
LOCATION POTCHEFSTROOM
DEADLINE FRIDAY 11 August
SALARY R450 000CTC - R600 000CTC depending on education, experience and current CTC

ROLE FOCUS Provide analytical and technical support for Research & Development

KPA :
• manage and align analytical and tech services to support Operations, Business systems and R&D.
• manage all analytical support on raw materials, compositions, components and manufacturing processes.
• Manage instrumental analytical support (e.g. chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, physical testing and functional testing).
• Manage quality and integrity of analytical services inline with ISO 17025 guidelines
• manage laboratory function finance e.g budget, procurement, maintenance and capex
• manage S.H.E and Risk within a explosives environment with ISO14001 and ISO18001 as guides
• manage and development of your laboratory team to surpass service levels
• manage and facilitate root cause incidents, investigations, problem solving and research reviews.
• Manage continuous development in terms of the analytical and tech support function.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum tertiary qualification: Analytical Chemistry / or Material Science (BSc / B Tech), Post Grad Qualifications are an advantage
• Minimum 10 years of Analytical laboratory experience with 5 of these years being at managerial level
• experience with energetic materials (Explosives, propellants etc).
• above average managerial skills with a focus on standards, effectiveness and results etc
• excellent problem solving skills coupled with strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Good presentation and report writing skills.
• Method qualification with SOPS (Stats, validation, performance verification et al).
